Welcome to the wonderful world of WashU a cappella! Thank you for signing up to audition for the Mosaic Whispers.

My name is Asia, and I am the Mosaic Whispers’ Group Coordinator.

This email is to confirm your audition slot, give you some details about the audition process, and get you pumped for this weekend!

STEP 1: Logistics

Where?

Dardick House Library - there will be signs directing you to the correct room.

When?

#date# at #start#.

Please arrive 10 minutes early so you can fill out the ACAC paperwork and our audition information sheet.

What?

A brief, 10-minute audition in which we’ll guide you through some scales and tonal memory, and then you’ll sing the verse and chorus of any song that you think best shows off your voice (and that you enjoy singing). Any genre is totally fine.

We will need to know your schedule through Wednesday 9/4 in order to schedule callbacks, so please bring your calendar.

STEP 2: ~RELAX ~

Auditions should be a FUN process. We are so excited to hear you sing!
It’s more than OK to be nervous (hey, we all had to audition at one point, too), but know that we've all been in your shoes and we just want to see what you can do!

STEP 3: What's Next? 

You may audition for as many groups as you like. If you are called back to one or more groups, you will be given access to an ACAC group preference form online. You will use this form at the end to rank the groups to which you are called back.

You may attend as many or as few callbacks as you like, with no obligation to join any group. After your last callback, fill out the group preference form, ranking the group(s) for which you were called back, with #1 being your first choice group.

If you do not wish to become a member of a group for which you were called back, do not list it on your card. Rankings on the preference cards are binding. (For example, if you rank Group A as 5th on your list and you are accepted into Group A, you must become a member of Group A, even though they were your 5th choice).

Callback auditions will be posted on Monday morning online and on the door to BD, and keep in mind that you may have a callback as early as Monday morning. Keep in mind that we would like to hear you sing a different song in your callback than what you sang for your audition. However, if you feel more comfortable singing the same song, it won’t count against you.

We can't wait to meet you, but until then, you can get to know us a bit:

We are the oldest co-ed a cappella group on campus, established in 1991.

Since that fateful year we've been busy releasing 10 albums and an EP, competing in ICCA - where we made it to finals in 2016, and semifinals in 2017 - singing at vice presidential and presidential debates...and much more!

We love to travel as a group, and generally go on tour during both Fall and Spring Breaks.

Some of our favorite trips have been Chicago, New York City, Washington D.C., Memphis, San Diego, Boston, and Disney World!

One of our most exciting events is our annual spring concert, Splash of Color! It is traditionally held in Graham Chapel, and we bring in great guest groups from on and off campus.

The best part about Splash is getting to see our wonderful Whisper Family (alumni) who never fail to come from near and far to cheer us on.
